Prepared, Not Scared Camp Teaches Critical Thinking, Survivalism to Kids
TRUSSVILLE — It was hot and it was humid, but that didn’t seem to bother Dr. Matt Brown, Verna Gates of Fresh Air Family and the kids in their camp, “Prepared Not Scared,” because getting back to nature was one of the goals in a program for fourth through sixth graders held in multiple cities, including Trussville in July.
.“I want to see the children come away with confidence in themselves and the skills they learn,” said Sheriff Mike Hale.
Gross Out Summer Camp brings children, seniors together
Special to the News-Aegis
Aug 2, 2018
For the seniors, it’s the laughter of children on the lawn. For the children, it’s the wonders of experiencing what it might be like to have a granddad or grandmother. Everyday... the two groups came together to learn about fishing, tadpoles, salamanders, snakes, and crafts, along with wisdom, caring and the joys of childhood.
Fresh Air Family and Noland Health Services worked together to bridge the generations at a camp at The Village at Cook Springs Retirement Center, July 23-27.To make the camp accessible to the children who need it the most, AOD Federal Credit Union provided seven scholarships for underserved children.
