May 21, 10 am: Cahaba Lilies, West Blockton
This giant white blooming flower in the middle of the is one of Alabama's most unique natural spectacle. Acres of white bloom in the shallows of the river. You can walk out and touch them and take photos in the water. This endangered species only blooms here, and very few other places. It is a must see! We will meet at the West Blockton Coke Ovens Park, which is nearby and has better meeting space. Free for members, $10 per family/$3 per person for non-members donation.
May 27, 5pm - 7 pm: Fresh Air Family Wine Tasting Fundraiser at Provisions Cheese and Wine Shop, Wetumpka
Join us for the fun-filled night of wine tasting and cheese appetizers. Provisions carries unique wines and Belgium chocolates! Help us out as this is a fundraiser for camps!
June 11, 10 am - Shoal Creek Park, Montevallo
Join us as we explore this beautiful creek and its environs. It has several excellent trails, bridges, and a new pavilion overlooking the creek. A great place to bring the family! We will look at tress and flowers and cool off in the creek. We can hunt for crawdads and other critters in the cool waters. If we have time, we will explore Orr Park and its tree carvings. Free for members $10/family/$3 per person donation for non-members.
August 6, 7 pm - Largest Emergence of Bats East of the Mississippi, Sauta Cave
See 400,000 of them circle in the sky. Join a naturalist for a presentation at Sauta Cave National Wildlife Refuge near Scottsboro and experience hundreds of thousands of bats departing Sauta Cave at dusk to begin their nightly forage for insects. Free for members, $5 per family non-members, $2 for individuals.
